Representative Duties

This position in the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida, is for providing information technology support to users, computer systems, networks, and software applications. The role includes supporting both locally developed and nationally supported systems, ensuring reliable IT operations across the court unit while providing exceptional user support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide help desk and technical support for IT equipment, systems, and users.
  • Monitor and maintain day-to-day IT operations, ensuring system reliability.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware and software.
  • Support Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive and OneNote
  • Support mobile devices (phones, tablets, laptops) and Apple operating systems (iOS/macOS).
  • Maintain and support courtroom audio-visual equipment and evidence presentation systems.
  • Collaborate with IT staff across divisions to standardize systems and practices.
  • Maintain documentation for user guides, systems, and applications.
  • Manage IT inventory lifecycle, including logistics, receiving, tracking, data entry, and deployment.
  • Assist in IT project implementation, integration, and system improvements.
  • Build awareness of judiciary security standards and policies, and comply with standards of system security, data integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Translating business needs into technical solutions
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of IT systems, hardware, software, and data communications.
  • Understanding of LAN/WAN networking and cybersecurity principles. Experience preferred
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex technical problems.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills, both in writing and in person.
  • Applicant should be able to work well within a team or individually, prioritize tasks, and make technical conclusions through methodical evaluation.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Learn court policies, procedures, and abide by confidentiality requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills with attention to detail and follow-through on responsibilities. Possess the ability to handle multiple assignments with frequent interruptions.
  • Explicit troubleshooting methodology expectation for technical problem solving and research
  • Microsoft Office 365 certification preferred. CompTIA A+ and Net+ certifications preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills, the ability to serve with a wide variety of users tactfully, and the desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment. Professional attire, demeanor, and strong work ethic.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible IT experience.
  • Experience with IT systems, data processing, and communications.
  • Experience supporting hardware/software in a user-based environment.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft 365, CompTIA A+, or Network+ are preferred.

System reliability is critical, and failures significantly impact court operations. This role will support mission-critical systems while providing exceptional user support.

CL 27: $59,732 - $97,098 
$59,732 - $74,678 New federal employees* 
$59,732 - $97,098 Current or former federal employees* 

*Starting salary adjustments prioritize prior federal service, with some recognition of relevant work experience and prior salary history. Applicants with prior federal court experience may be eligible for a start
